One-on-Ones are odd: some love them, some hate them. What you can't deny is that one-on-ones aren't conventional — that is, they aren't part of the normal set of activities you would consider 'management'.
If you don't go out of your way to do one-on-ones, nobody will blame you or stop you. In fact, one-on-ones are pretty much only found in the tech industry.
